Children

The people have voted...drum roll please...and the winner is CHILDREN!!!

To start this week's theme I will give some tips on photographing children:

"When shooting children, get down to the child's level. This may mean kneeling down."
-Digital Photography Tips

Use a faster shutter speed for fast moving children, this will help eliminate blur.

Try and catch a child's personality in a still shot. (This a very fun way to photograph children, I will expand more on this later.)

Try black and white, this is often very complementary to shots of children. It sets a kind of timeless, precious memories air to a photo.

Another easy tip for photographing little ones (that's pretty much all I do!) is to give them something to eat. A popsicle, slice of watermelon, colorful fruit or a lollipop are all cute props for outside pics on a hot, summer day. This takes their mind off being photographed and keeps them from giving you cheesy, fake smiles. At least that helps around here!

You've got some beautiful subjects under your own roof, so I can't wait to see what you come up with!

P.S. Bubbles! I forgot to mention bubbles. Some of my favorite pics were taken in the backyard while Oliver was blowing bubbles. The look of wonder and amazement on his face is precious to me.
