Copyright Laws

Copyright Laws is something that all photographers and people in general should know something about so that will be one of the first things I cover.

Dad has learned through experience a little about copyright laws and a couple of days ago he and I did some reasearch to get specifics on current regulations.

In summary, as the photographer you have automatic copyright laws to your photos the moment you take them, it is irrelevant whose camera you use, as long as you take the picture you have copyrights. If I were to take a picture of you, with your camera, I would have copyrights to the photo, even if it is of you. All photos (including online) are to be considered copyrighted unless stated otherwise (i.e. all right reserved) and are to be used only with permission. You may not duplicate a copyrighted photo, have it printed, or use it for commercial gain. All that is required for use of someone else's photo is their consent.

So the good news is that your photos are already copyrighted, the bad news is so is that picture of you a stranger offered to take.

Hope this has been helpful and informative.
