What Are You Looking For?

Macro-Depth and Focus

Macro is one of my favorite features in photography. There are many things you can use macro for, I generally use it for taking pictures of flowers, insects, water, and moss. What are some of your favorite uses for it?

"Keep in mind that you have a very shallow depth of field when using the close up mode, so focus on the image that is most important to you, and let the rest go soft." -Top Ten Digital Photography Tips
That is part of the art of macro.

You can create very clever effects using macro, and I'm always looking for new ideas. One thing I like about macro is your ability to choose the focus of the person who is looking at your photo. Their eye is not drawn to the blurry background but rather the clear sharp image in the foreground. You thus "make clear" the center point of your image.
