Don't be afraid to get close. Bees will not sting you unless you try and harm them (taking their picture is not on the list) and unless you're photographing a Venus Fly Trap flowers won't bite. :) In macro moving closer draws the viewer into the photo, making for a more interesting & intimate photograph.
